Future of Steamboat Community

Future of Steamboat

The future of Steamboat looks bright for the Yampa Valley and Steamboat Springs. The area is at the beginning of a new phase of growth.

The growth is being fueled by continued strong second home sales and a growing local population. It has been forecasted that the Steamboat Springs population is expected to double by the year 2020.

Large-scale development is a large concern for the town and it has several plans that it has already in place to guide these new developments.

At the base of the ski area, an Urban Renewal Authority has been formed to oversee and direct the renovation and construction of over 1 million sqft of residential housing.

The city has also adopted the West of Steamboat plan that will guide the development of the large open space that lies west of town on the US Highway 40 corridor.

Not to be left out are the towns of Oak Creek and Hayden which in their rights have significant plans for growth and many planned unit developments in the pipeline.
